Yes, these silly questions and answers are once again just for fun. But if we think about it, it’s really logical, isn’t it?

Because first, the average superhero who has wings (whether DC or Marvel), yes the wings do function to allow the hero to move freely through the air.

Of course, the superhero figure that immediately comes to mind when talking about this, is none other than Kal-El aka Clark Kent aka Superman. Then again, there are many superheroes who have winged costumes and can fly.

And secondly, Batman is Bruce Wayne. Wayne is more or less like Tony Stark aka Iron Man. He is just an ordinary, wealthy man with no superpowers. So yes once again, he can’t fly like his Justice League colleagues.

Why the wings?

Now based on all these logical arguments. We return to the question of this discussion. If he can’t fly, why does Batman’s costume have wings (cape)?

Why not just a normal costume (without wings)? Well, it turns out that there is a reason why this happened. And here are 4 reasons why Batman’s costume has wings as reported by CBR.

1. To Calm a Victim in Shock

Yes, the first reason was to calm the victim who was in a state of severe shock. Of course, this condition is usually because the victim has just experienced a terrible event with one of the villains in Gotham.

So based on that statement. Batman often removes his wings and makes them like a big blanket that covers the whole body he is soothing.

He used this technique once again in the hope of keeping this part of his wing warm and comfortable. It can immediately make the victim slowly, calm and cool again.

2. Protects Against Fire Attacks or Hazards

As a hero who always faces danger. Of course, one of the dangers that can and in fact often attacks it is a hot lick or blaze.

Moreover, as we know. He also faced the iconic villain, Firefy, quite often. Where this villain uses a firearm. Now to be able to avoid the risk of serious burns or even death. Batman also modified his wings to be fireproof.

3. To Help Her Float

The next reason why Batman’s costume has wings is to help him glide through the air, REMEMBER! Gliding is not the same as flying. If you’ve seen Batman in action, you’ll understand this statement.

The hovering action that is often carried out by the dark knight of Gotham, of course, is to intercept the villain who is running away. Usually the situation is that the villain is really speeding up driving a car or other vehicle in order to escape the pursuit of the Gotham police (GCPD).

If only his costume didn’t have those wings. Yes, Batman will definitely not be able to do his gliding action. And in the end, all of Gotham’s villains are running rampant throughout the city.

4. Can Make Enemies Faint

At first glance, Batman’s wings are nothing more than a long cloth. As we all know, cloth is not too dangerous when exposed to the body. At the very least, it can cause chafing or stinging when exposed to its vigorous flapping.

But then again, this is Batman. So this wing cloth is no ordinary wing cloth. Aside from what I’ve described before, it’s fire resistant. Also, its wings, if they flap very fast and hit your face, will instantly make you faint.

Why is that? Because each tip of the wing part has a metallic element. Which is again. If this metal is affected by the fluttering effect, it will immediately make it very hard and very sharp.

Okay guys. Those are 4 reasons why Batman costume has wings, even though he can’t fly. Hope this explanation is useful!
