Bandai Namco Confirms Tekken 8 Cross-Play Feature

General manager Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that Tekken 8 will feature cross-play and netcode rollback.

Bandai Namco’s general manager Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that Tekken 8 will feature cross-play and netcode rollback. This information was revealed by Harada while answering his fans’ questions on Twitter.

Bandai Namco is currently preparing Tekken 8, which has the potential to be the biggest fighting game in the future. For those of you who don’t know, Tekken is a game with the longest-running storyline in video games.

As presented in the dialog at the end of Tekken 7, the new sequel will focus on the meeting between father and son, Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.

Tekken 8 will have a Story Mode as well as a Versus Mode. So far, Bandai Namco has only emphasized on visual quality such as increasingly detailed character models.

Environments are also more realistic for a more immersive battle intensity, as well as various effects to enliven the battle conditions.

Features Cross-Play and Netcode Rollback

Through his Twitter account, producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that Tekken 8 will feature cross-platform play and include a NetCode rollback.

Cross-play? Of course. By the way, when the previous generation of consoles launched, I had already proposed cross-play between two platformers. However, at that time, they were at odds with each other due to mutual interests (and P2P security issues) & repeatedly refused.

Harada then went on to say that although “there are still some remaining issues” with adding cross-play features, it will be implemented in Tekken 8.

Speaking of the netcode rollback, another fan on Twitter also asked Harada about this feature. He replied, “Already installed it and already have what you want.”

Bandai Namco as the developer of Tekken 8 revealed that Tekken 8 will be coming to Next-Gen consoles. Tekken will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S platforms, and also comes to PC via Steam.

That certainly makes sense given the trailer’s stunning graphics. Next-gen consoles are expected to maintain the trailer’s stunning visuals when Tekken 8 is officially released.
