Following the huge success of Black Myth: Wukong, Game Science has officially announced the continuation of the Black Myth series, titled Zhong Kui.

Following the huge success of Black Myth: Wukong, Game Science has officially announced the continuation of the Black Myth series titled Zhong Kui. Based on its culture, Game Science continues the Black Myth series as a game with themes of Chinese mythology and legends.

Black Myth: Wukong, as the title suggests, tells the legend of Sun Wukong, better known to Indonesians as Sun Go Kong or Kera Sakti.

This time, as the title suggests, Black Myth: Zhong Kui will tell the story of Zhong Kui. He was a Chinese scholar of the Tang Dynasty who was known for his great intelligence. However, he was expelled from the kingdom by Emperor Gaozu and his right-hand man, Lu Qi, simply because of his ugly appearance.

About Black Myth: Zhong Kui

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is rooted in Chinese mythology and culture, with Zhong Kui as the main character. In legend, Zhong Kui is known as a Taoist deity depicted as a large man with a thick beard.

He has expertise in conquering ghosts and evil spirits. Given his background, it will be interesting to see how developers will translate this character into game mechanics.

For example, Zhong Kui’s ability to command various ghosts can be used as a summoning system in the game.

Currently, Game Science developers are still working on adapting the legend of Zhong Kui for their new game. What is clear is that players will no longer play as a monkey demon like Sun Go Kong.

For now, the developers are still unsure about when the game will be released, as they are still in the early stages of development. However, it has been confirmed that Black Myth: Zhong Kui will be available on consoles and PCs.

Black Myth: Wukong became one of the manifestations of the rise of Chinese developers on the world stage in 2024. To date, the game has sold 25 million copies, 10 million of which sold out in the first three days of sales.
