Unison Games has officially announced their latest project, Descent of Lunaris, a sci-fi dungeon RPG described as a “love letter to classic dungeon games” such as Wizardry, Ultima, and Shin Megami Tensei.
This game will be available for PC via Steam, although it does not yet have a definite release date and is expected to arrive in 2026.
Dark Adventure in Descent of Lunaris
Descent of Lunaris is set in the year 2070, when mining operations on the moon discover a mysterious signal from unexpected depths. As soon as the signal appears, the machines at the base turn deadly and slaughter the crew.
Players will take on the role of an international special team sent to trace the source of the signal and uncover secrets that could shake the history of mankind.
Descent of Lunaris gameplay features grid-based exploration packed with branching storylines, environmental puzzles, and dark secrets. Each area transforms from industrial corridors into surreal landscapes filled with elements of psychological horror.
Players must survive, collect documents, find hidden paths, and make moral decisions that will affect the fate of their team.
The combat in this game combines two classic systems: turn-based JRPG and grid-based tactical combat. Players must arrange formations, utilize each character’s unique abilities, and adapt to changes in the battlefield. This system allows for staged boss battles, environmental traps, and challenging strategies for each mission.
In addition to its deep combat system, the game also features complex team customization. Players can unlock subclasses, adjust attributes, and develop unique playstyles for each character. No two teams will be the same; each choice shapes a different journey in the terrifying underground world of the moon.
With atmospheric visuals, harmoniously blended 2D and 3D art styles, and suspenseful experimental music, Descent of Lunaris promises a new generation of dark, mysterious RPG dungeon experiences, rich with philosophical meaning about humanity and existence.
