M6 World Championship Format
The Swiss Round system used in the M6 World Championship is a system that prioritizes match balance based on the results of the competing teams. Here’s how the Swiss Round works in the M6 competition:
Round 1: All 16 teams compete randomly in a Bo1 (Best of 1) format, so each team plays only one game. The winning team will get a score of 1-0, while the losing team will get a score of 0-1.
Round 2: Teams that are 1-0 and 0-1 are randomly matched again in a Bo1 format. The result of the match determines who will have a score of 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2.
Round 3: Teams with a score of 2-0 will play in a Bo3 (Best of 3). The winner advances directly to the playoffs. Meanwhile, teams with a 1-1 score remain in Bo1, and teams with a 0-2 score will compete in Bo3, where the losing team will be eliminated.
Round 4: Teams with a score of 2-1 will compete in a Bo3 for a spot in the playoffs. On the other hand, teams with a score of 1-2 will also compete in Bo3, and the loser will be eliminated.
Round 5: Teams with a score of 2-2 will compete in a Bo3. The winner of this match will advance to the playoffs, while the losing team will be eliminated.
This system gives each team a fair chance based on their performance, as only the team that manages three wins can progress to the next round, while the team that loses three times will be eliminated.
The prize pool for the M6 World Championship is 1 million USD, making it the largest prize pool in the history of M World Series tournaments.
The best 16 teams from 12 regions will compete for this prize pool, with one additional slot containing a wild card team.
