Rumors about when PlayStation Showcase 2023 will be held have now gained light from various sources. Recently, the latest news circulated that PlayStation Showcase 2023 will be present in the near future.
The absence of the PlayStation Showcase in 2022 still raises a big question mark about Sony’s strategy in generating enthusiasm for fans this year. It does quite regularly hold State of Play from time to time.
However, most fans are looking forward to a fuller exhibition event with plenty of exciting surprises. Especially through new exclusive first-party games that developers are still keeping under wraps.
Sony announces PlayStation Showcase 2023
Jeff Grubb and VGC have reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment will be holding a PlayStation Showcase event in the next few weeks.
According to Grubb, the current timeline for the PlayStation Showcase is “the week of May 25”. In a continued tweet, Grubb said:
I say ‘the week of May 25’ because that’s probably the latest it could happen. But it could happen earlier. I don’t want to say May 21st and then have people get upset when it doesn’t happen on Sunday.Jeff Grubb, Journalist at Giant Bomb
VGC later corroborated Grubb’s claim by reporting that the next PlayStation Showcase will take place in late May or early June 2023.
VGC owner and editor Andy Robinson also tweeted that the event will include new content from Konami.
A day ago, a new claim emerged from Jez Corden that Sony Interactive Entertainment has secured an exclusivity deal with Konami for the new Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania.
Sony was forced to postpone the event since last year because some developers were not ready to show off their games. With more preparation, Sony plans to hold the event before June.
E3 itself has been officially canceled, but many game companies will still prepare their own presentation events which have so far proven to be quite effective and cost-effective.
Sony is no exception, which seems to have a big surprise that is not just limited to a few State of Play presentations. Of course, all of this is still just a rumor, so we’ll see how it develops later.
