An adaptation of the Tomb Raider television series is now being developed by Amazon. Who will be the Lara Croft?
If you still remember, about 6 months ago Dafunda reported that the sequel to the Tomb Raider (2018) movie reboot was officially stopped. Now because of this, finally the Intellectual Property (IP) rights for the Tomb Raider film and other IPs were taken over by Amazon.
Well at that time the IP rights for Tomb Raider were “released freely.” This means that any film or television studio is free to scramble if they want to adapt this 90s hit game again. Well 6 months later, in the end it was Amazon who would also adapt the Lara Croft story again.
Tomb Raider Television Series Adaptation
As reported by TheGamer and also the tweet upload from DiscussingFilm, the latest Tomb Raider adaptation currently being developed by Amazon will be a television series.
The script will be written by actress and screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known for her Fleabag series. In addition to writing the script, Waller-Bridge is also the executive producer of this series adaptation.
Unfortunately, that’s the only info I got from this Tomb Raider adaptation news. So yes guys, it is not yet known who the actress who will play the figure of Lara Croft will be. But what can be ascertained is that this series is a fresh reboot of Lara’s story.
Amazon’s 3rd Video Game Adaptation
The Tomb Raider television series adaptation, which is currently being developed by Amazon, is the third video game adaptation handled by Amazon.
Before finally deciding to handle the adaptation of the Tomb Raider series, Amazon had in fact already and was handling two other video game series adaptations. Specifically, the two adaptations are God of War and Fallout.
