Rumors about Mortal Kombat 12 were finally answered after NetherRealm apparently preferred Mortal Kombat 1 as the title. The news indicates that this game will be a soft reboot for the timeline of Mortal Kombat itself.

Through the trailer that the developers shared, we can see that Liu Kang still has the Time Keeper superpower and will likely play an important role in gathering champions from the earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat 1 will still continue the storyline after the events in Mortal Kombat 11 and its DLC, Aftermath. Although in cinematic form, the trailer gives us an idea of what this game will be like.
