James Cameron has released the first trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the long-awaited third installment in the world of Pandora. The trailer comes five months before Fire and Ash’s scheduled release on December 19, 2025.
The trailer also provides an update on Jake Sully’s family’s struggle against the Ash People, a group of antagonistic Na’vi from the fire tribe.
Avatar: Fire and Ash Trailer
The two-minute trailer takes viewers back to the world of Pandora, but with a much darker atmosphere. One of the main focuses is the introduction of a new tribe called the Ash People.
Led by Varang, the tribe is distinctive, full of symbols of war, and seemingly refuses to live in harmony with nature like the other Na’vi tribes.
Varang is a strong and controversial leader, who is ready to do anything to defend the survival of his people.
In addition, the conflict within Sully’s family seems to be a central element in the story again, including Lo’ak’s (Britain Dalton) guilt over his brother’s death and Neytiri’s deep hatred of the Sky People.
After the dramatic events in Avatar: The Way of Water, Neytiri is still trapped in anger, while Jake reminds her that she cannot continue to live with hatred. Meanwhile, their son, Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), is having trouble finding his place after leaving Neytiri’s tribe and trying to adapt to the sea tribes.
Amidst the threat posed by the Ash People, the humans also show their aggressive side once again. Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) returns with an army of “Recombinants,” humans whose minds are in artificial Na’vi bodies.
Their presence adds to the complexity of the conflict, making the line between good and evil increasingly blurred. The character of Spider (Jack Champion) and a group of rebel scientists also appear, giving hope that humanity still exists amidst the chaos.
