After more than twenty years, the movie Beetlejuice 2 has finally been officially announced with the release of its first trailer.

Besides Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice 2 also features some new names such as Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and the most eye-catching is the appearance of Jenna Ortega, the star of Wednesday and Scream.

The trailer shows that there are three generations of the Deetz family who return to their home in Winter River after one of their family members suddenly dies.

Astrid, Lydia’s daughter, explores the old family home. There, she finds a miniature city on the roof of the house. However, she doesn’t realize that the miniature city is actually the entrance to another world.

In addition, the miniature is also where an evil figure named Beetlejuice appears. His presence will cause chaos in the city.

There are some new players

Some of the new players in the movie, including Willem Dafoe, will play the character of Wolf Jackson, a ghost detective. Previously, Wolf Jackson was a lesser-known action movie actor.

However, in this movie, he will be looking for Beetlejuice. Meanwhile, other roles for the other players are not yet known.

Aside from Keaton reprising his role as Beetlejuice, several elements from the previous movie are also seen in this sequel, including the waiting room to the afterlife and the Netherworld. Like the first movie, this sequel also relies more on practical effects than CGI.

The film’s comedic horror story retains the same feel as the previous film, giving the impression that despite being 36 years old, this sequel is still capable of delivering a similar atmosphere.
