Here are Hogwarts’ Best Dorms
At Hogwarts, each dorm competes against each other. Each house has the opportunity to earn marks for various activities and achievements. However, the grades earned can be reduced if the dorm is involved in trouble.
1. Gryffindor
The Gryffindor dormitory is one of the dormitories known for producing many great and talented wizards in the wizarding world. The students of Gryffindor are known for their courage and fearlessness in facing challenges.
Gryffindor’s animal symbol is the lion, while its colors are red and gold. The wizards of Gryffindor have achievements that are on par with the wizards of other dormitories.
Many Gryffindor alumni have played important roles as Aurors and contributed to the fight against dark magic. Some of the famous figures who came from Gryffindor include Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, Neville Longbottom, and Remus Lupin.
2. Slytherin
The Slytherin dormitory is one of the four dorms at Hogwarts that is often considered intimidating. It is known for its ambitious, cunning, and resourceful nature in dealing with various situations.
Most of its members are pure-blooded wizards, and they often break the rules to achieve their goals. Slytherin’s identity is represented by a snake, while its trademark colors are green and silver.
Slytherin dormitories are located under the lake, and J.K. Rowling describes these dormitories as being associated with the water element. The traits possessed by Slytherin students often have the potential to be misused for bad purposes.
Many famous wizards have come from this house, including Voldemort, Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, and Bellatrix Lestrange. Despite the negative view of Slytherin, the abilities of the wizards who come from this dorm cannot be underestimated.
3. Hufflepuff
The Hufflepuff House is known for its values, such as hard work, patience, loyalty, dedication, tolerance, and justice. The dorm’s proud colors are yellow and black, with the badger as its symbol of identity.
In J.K. Rowling’s works, Hufflepuff is associated with the earth element, reflecting the dorm’s underground location. While not many characters from Hufflepuff get much attention, the dorm still produces a number of accomplished wizards.
Some famous characters from Hufflepuff include Nymphadora Tonks, who is Remus Lupin’s wife, an Auror, and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. In addition, there are also Cedric Diggory, Susan Bones, and Newt Scamander who are widely recognized in the story.
4. Ravenclaw

Founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, this dormitory has an eagle as its symbol or identity animal. Ravenclaw is located in one of Hogwarts’ towers, giving its students a great view compared to the other dorms.
