Captain America: Brave New World, which opens on February 13, 2025, features a post-credit scene at the end of the film. Just like other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this scene gives an indication of the next story development in the franchise.
Captain America is back in action to save the world, but he still has one task: reuniting the Avengers team. In Captain America: Brave New World, Anthony Mackie takes over the role of Sam Wilson, replacing Chris Evans who previously played Steve Rogers.
In this movie, he defeated the Red Hulk played by Harrison Ford. However, the post-credit scene at the end shows Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), a genius who was exposed to gamma radiation and is known as the Hulk’s nemesis named Leader, which shows that there are still other multiverse threats in the MCU universe.
Warning: Contains Spoilers!
Captain America: Brave New World Post-Credit Scene
1. Movie ending reveals the mastermind behind turning the US President into the Red Hulk

At the end of the film, Captain America realized that Sterns was the one who had given the heart pill to Ford’s President, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Apparently, the pill contained hidden gamma radiation.
As a result, Ross turned into the Red Hulk when his emotions reached their peak. Sterns’ devious plan was an attempt at revenge against Ross, whom he held responsible for his transformation into a green mad scientist with an enormous brain.
After the battle that destroyed the White House, Captain America managed to defeat Red Hulk and keep Sterns in prison. Meanwhile, Ross decided to turn himself in and accept a prison sentence for the chaos Red Hulk caused.
However, this raises the question of who is leading the US while Ross is in prison. While there is no definitive answer, we are informed through a brief appearance that Bucky Barnes is exploring a career in politics.
He turns out to be a candidate for US congress. We will see Bucky again in the upcoming “Thunderbolts” movie this summer, but it seems that he is joining a new team of anti-heroes or villains, instead of focusing on his political career in the movie.
2. There’s Only One Post-Credit Scene in Captain America: Brave New World

Unlike other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that usually feature two post-credit scenes, Brave New World only features one extra scene at the end.
In the scene, we see Sam Wilson returning to The Raft, a high-security prison that houses dangerous prisoners. Although he has previously been a resident there, this time Sam comes as a visitor to meet with Samuel Stearns.
Their conversation started with Sam teasing Stearns for losing a bet. Stearns had previously strongly believed that Red Hulk could defeat Captain America, but the outcome of the fight showed differently.
Despite the loss, Stearns doesn’t seem to care too much. In all seriousness, he warned that the multiverse exists, and the threat of apocalypse is not limited to one universe.
Stearns stated that he had seen some strange phenomena in space. He realized that this reality is one of the many parallel worlds that exist. Now, each side will try by all means to protect their own world.
To conclude the conversation, he asked a question that made the audience curious.
“What will it be like when the new Avengers team has to fight against ‘the others’?” he said, before the screen went black, signaling the end of Captain America: Brave New World.
3. Captain America: Brave New World’s Post Credit-Scene Connects Two Upcoming Avengers Films

This scene seems to be a link to the upcoming “Avengers” movies “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars,” which are scheduled to feature characters from various universes.
We’ve already learned that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU in the films, but this time he’ll be playing the supervillain Dr. Doom instead of Iron Man, in a surprising twist.
The “Fantastic Four” movie coming this summer will also introduce an alternate world with main characters like Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. If they enter Captain America’s world, can he team up with this new team to fight Dr. Doom?
It looks like Captain America will have to gather Earth’s Mightiest Heroes before facing a major threat to the multiverse.
