Children of Heaven Movie to Get Indonesian Remake Version

Remember the iconic Children of Heaven movie in the 90s? The movie will reportedly get a remake to the Indonesian version, you know.

According to MD Pictures‘ official website, MD Entertainment has announced plans to remake the iconic Iranian film Children of Heaven.

The script for the remake made public by producer Manoj Punjabi still retains the original title Children of Heaven and will be directed by Hanung Bramantyo. Meanwhile, the movie script was written by Oka Aurora and Hanan Novianti.

“One of the most touching movies I’ve ever seen. Now, it’s time to revive it for a new generation. Children of Heaven – coming soon,” said MD Entertainment CEO Manoj Punjabi.

Manoj Pujambi, the film ‘s producer, also shared through an Instagram post that the production process was challenging. He also emphasized that the movie “Children of Heaven” is already legendary among the 90s generation.

In addition, as part of the Children of Heaven remake, MD Pictures will soon hold open auditions to find actors to bring Ali and Zahra to life.

Director Majid Majidi’s work was first screened in 1997 and has since won numerous international awards, including at prestigious festivals such as Lucas, Montreal World Film Festival, and even an Oscar nomination.

The success of Children of Heaven also triggered adaptations of the film in various countries, such as Homerun in Singapore (2003), Bumm Bumm Bole in India (2010), and Akka Kuruvi in India (Tamil, 2022).

The movie “Children of Heaven” tells the story of two siblings, Ali and Zahra, who live in the suburbs of Tehran. Once upon a time, Ali accidentally lost Zahra’s shoes while out shopping for vegetables. They chose to keep this secret from their parents, given the family’s difficult financial situation.

Feeling guilty, Ali proposes that Zahra use her shoes in turn. When all seems lost, hope comes through a running race that offers a prize of new shoes.

Determined, Ali strives to win the race in order to give Zahra new shoes. Ali’s persistent efforts and Zahra’s fortitude and understanding make “Children of Heaven” a movie that touches the hearts and brings tears to the eyes of audiences around the world.
