After achieving tremendous success with the Oppenheimer biopic, Christopher Nolan is now preparing a new movie. This time, he will again work with Universal for his latest film project. Interestingly, Nolan has already set the main star for this film project.
Hollywood’s top actor, Matt Damon, is reportedly in negotiations to join Christopher Nolan’s latest film project. This news was first reported by Deadline.
1. Christopher Nolan’s New Movie to Be Released in 2026
Christopher Nolan has been working with Warner Bros. for almost 20 years, producing a variety of highly acclaimed films. Among his works are the Dunkirk, Dark Knight, and Inception trilogies, which are all under the Warner Bros. umbrella.
However, Oppenheimer marks Nolan’s first project outside of Warner Bros., this time in collaboration with Universal. As we already know, Oppenheimer’s film won 7 Academy Awards and managed to generate a revenue of USD 1 billion.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Universal decided to work with Christopher Nolan again on his latest film project. According to Variety, Universal plans to release the film in Imax theaters on July 17, 2026.
However, details about the movie’s plot are still being kept tightly under wraps. Production of the movie is expected to begin in early 2025.
2. Matt Damon returns to acting because of Nolan
Until now, the various collaborative film projects between Nolan and Matt Damon have always yielded good results. Every movie they work on always sells well in the market. Matt Damon actually once decided to take a break from acting.
However, as he revealed, because Christopher Nolan directly asked him to play the role in Oppenheimer, he finally decided to return to acting.
According to a report from Variety, Matt Damon is currently in discussions to take part in Christopher Nolan’s new film project. If the deal goes through, the new film will be the third collaboration between Matt Damon and Christopher Nolan.
