The year 2025 looks like it will be the year for James Gunn & Peter Safran’s DC Studios to kick off their new DC universe. After a few days ago releasing the first trailer for their Superman movie. Now they are also ready with their second movie, Supergirl.
Not just an announcement of the film title. But the female superhero film is also rumored to be ready to air in 2026. What information have they revealed regarding this one movie project?
DC Studios is Ready to Bring Supergirl’s Character to the Movies
After a few days ago releasing the poster and also the official trailer of the Superman project. DC Studios didn’t take long to announce their next project. According to PopVerse, the character Supergirl will also follow her cousin to hit the big screen. Starting from her first appearance scheduled for next year. Then followed by his solo movie which airs in 2026.
At the New York Comic Con event, James Gunn as the creative head of DC’s new universe said that they would adapt the story in the Woman of Tomorrow comic. But like superhero movie adaptations in general. They will not fully adapt the elements in the story of the Woman of Tomorrow comic.
“There will be some different approaches because the story structure is a little different with a variety of stories in it. But all the important elements & characters from Supergirl will still be in the movie,” James Gunn explained as quoted by PopVerse.
Supergirl’s fight for Revenge and self-discovery
The Woman of Tomorrow comic story is one of the canon stories in the DC Comics universe. It was first released in 2021. The comic tells the character of Kara Zor El or Supergirl who is in a period of self-discovery in a new place that she has not yet recognized.
Just as Superman arrived on planet Earth when the planet Krypton was destroyed. The difference is that Kara arrived on Earth as a teenager. She also wants to escape the shadow of her hero cousin. In her quest to be free from her life, Kara meets Ruthye, an alien girl.
Slowly but surely, Kara begins to live her life and with her strong determination she tries to avenge her father’s death. Can Kara escape from Superman’s shadow and get her revenge?
So far, some of the actors and actresses who have been confirmed to play in the solo movie are Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.
