Surprising news is circulating again about DC Studios, which is reportedly working on a film about Mr. Freeze. Interestingly, this film will reportedly be connected to the universe of The Batman by director Matt Reeves. This situation also sparked various speculations among fans about the Mr. Freeze film project.
1. Mr. Freeze Movie Under the Direction of Matt Reeves
Reportedly this information first emerged from the latest Production Weekly report. In the list of movie projects they will work on, there is one striking name, namely Mister Freeze.
6th & Idaho, a production house under Matt Reeves, will produce the movie. Besides Reeves, James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are also involved in DC Studios, are listed as producers for this project.
The 6th & Idaho production company also works with DC Studios, DC Entertainment, The Safran Company, and Warner Bros. Television.
From this, speculation arises that the movie about Mr. Freeze is a film project that DC Studios is developing, not a TV series. On the other hand, this also raises some other interesting points.
2. Will be in The Batman Universe?
The production house being involved in a similar project with The Batman movie led to speculation that the Mister Freeze movie might take place in the Reeves Universe.
Last week, news broke that the long-rumored Clayface movie project was back in the news. If that proves to be true, then this information about the Mister Freeze or Mr. Freeze movie project could also have some truth to it.
Since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, many new and old projects that were previously talked about have started to become hot topics again.
This can certainly be a good sign regarding the development of the universe offered by the movie studio. For now, we still need to wait for more information about the upcoming movie project.
3. About Mr. Freeze
The character of Mr. Freeze was created by writer Dave Wood and illustrator Sheldon Moldoff. He made his debut in Batman #121 (February 1959) under the name Mr. Zero. Mister Freeze is one of Batman’s most iconic antagonists and is part of the group of villains that make up Batman’s rogues gallery.
In the most commonly told version of his backstory, he is a former cryogenic scientist in Gotham City who suffered a laboratory accident while trying to save his terminally ill wife, Nora Fries. The incident caused his body temperature to plummet, forcing him to wear a cryogenic suit to survive, and he also wields a “freeze gun” that can freeze targets.
Mister Freeze appeared in movies and several TV series. George Sanders, Otto Preminger, and Eli Wallach played Mr. Freeze in the Batman TV series, then by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, and by Nathan Darrow in the TV series Gotham.
