Denzel Washington then explained how he chooses his acting projects. He revealed that he often takes on different projects in turn, such as when he was cast in the theater Othello and then followed it up with a film adaptation of the theater.

Furthermore, he decided to return to the role of Rob McCall because he felt that the movie had a special place in the hearts of the audience. He believes that the recognition from the audience is the reason why he wanted to star in The Equalizer again.

“I realized that the Equalizer movie was for me too, because it was made for people,” Washington says.

“They wanted me to catch the bad guys. ‘We can’t catch them, so catch them.’ And I said, ‘Okay, I’ll catch them! Just wait, I’ll be right back!'” he continued.

This announcement reverses an earlier statement from Denzel Washington, who stated that he would retire from his role as Robert McCall after starring in The Equalizer 3. He mentioned that the third film marked the end of his journey as McCall. However, Washington also signaled that The Equalizer could continue with other actors in the future.

On the other hand, Antoine Fuqua, the director of the third Equalizer movie, revealed that the story is actually closed in a trilogy format. However, he also added that he did not want to completely rule out the possibility of continuing the story of The Equalizer. Fuqua stated that all potentials for the continuation of the story are left to the studio.

First released in 2014, The Equalizer features Denzel Washington as Robert McCall. He is a middle-aged man who lives his life in an ordinary way. However, many people don’t realize that McCall actually has an extraordinary skill set. This is evident when a major threat appears in his life.

The Equalizer offers an interesting storyline despite its similarities to some other films such as John Wick. Denzel Washington managed to bring McCall’s character to life, which contributed to the movie’s success.

There have been three films in The Equalizer series, with The Equalizer 3 releasing in 2023. Although there were rumors that The Equalizer 3 could be the last film of the series, as we said earlier, it turns out that Denzel Washington confirmed that he will continue the sequel to the series.

Keep in mind, this is the first announcement from the lead actor. As of now, there is no official confirmation from Village Roadshow Pictures on this matter. We also have minimal information about the movie, but it is possible that Denzel Washington will return as Robert McCall, and Antoine Fuqua is also expected to return as director.

In The Equalizer 3, we see Robert McCall’s decision to retire from the action of the previous three films. In this last movie, McCall has to deal with the Italian mafia.
