According to Deadline, Dwayne Johnson will play the role of Mark Kerr, an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) legend, in a sports drama movie called The Smashing Machine.
A24 will produce the movie. Apart from playing the lead role, Dwayne Johnson will also be producing the movie along with Seven Bucks Productions, his production house.
A24 will provide funding for the production of The Smashing Machine, with Benny Safdie directing. Noah Sacco, chairman of A24, stated “Dwayne and Benny are unique talents, and their shared vision for Mark’s inspiring story is mesmerizing. We are deeply honored to be trusted by them as partners in bringing this special project to life.”
“The Smashing Machine” will not only chronicle Kerr’s career, but will also highlight his issues with substance abuse, romantic life, and friendships, with the movie set in 2000. Johnson himself is no stranger to sports movies, having starred in Gridiron Gang and Fighting With My Family.” added Sacco.

Currently, Dwayne Johnson is busy with his latest movie projects. One of them is the live action version of Moana, which is an adaptation of the animated film released in 2016.
