Some critics consider Bloodlines to be one of the best releases in the Final Destination series. Katie Walsh of Tribune News Service thinks that the movie is able to revive the franchise after a 14-year hiatus.
“Bloodlines revives the Final Destination saga in a way that makes its predecessors proud,” Walsh said, quoting CNN Indonesia.
Besides Katie Walsh, William Bibbiani of TheWarp and Jocelyn Noveck of Associated Press, also expressed their positive impressions for the movie.
“You can watch Final Destination Bloodlines with your face covered. But chances are, you’ll be smiling with satisfaction too,” Noveck says.
“We watch this to see death, and again, every Final Destination Bloodlines death is incredible. Every time a head explodes, which is often, you want to stand up and cheer,” Bibbiani told TheWrap.
However, there were also critics who gave a negative assessment of Final Destination Bloodlines, including Kyle Logan’s review on Chicago Ryder. He emphasized that the premise of Bloodlines, which focuses on one extended family, is a mistake because it feels more like a family drama.
“Making a Final Destination movie into a family drama for almost two hours was a mistake,” Logan said.
