Gareth Evans, director of The Raid, recently provided the latest information regarding the certainty of the production of The Raid 3. Of course this is a new hope for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the second sequel to The Raid film.
Released in 2011, The Raid showcased director Gareth Evans’ expertise in the action movie genre and introduced us to action star Iko Uwais. The film’s story centers on a group of S.W.A.T. teams trapped in an apartment building full of criminals.
The Raid was a success, even resulting in a sequel titled The Raid 2 that caught the attention of audiences in 2014. However, after that, there is no certainty about the production of The Raid 3, as Evans and Uwais have been involved in other projects.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly aimed at promoting his latest movie, Havoc, which will be on Netflix, Evans revealed that he originally had the idea to make The Raid 3, although he had previously dropped the idea.
However, everything changed after he reunited with Iko Uwais, the lead actor in The Raid, in Indonesia a few years ago. Evans stated that the meeting gave him renewed vigor in continuing the project.
Evans said that they always communicate via WhatsApp, but this was the first time they had seen each other in a long time. According to him, it was like seeing his little brother all grown up. He also added that after the meeting, he got a new outlook on how they could produce The Raid 3 again.
Evans did not confirm that the filming of The Raid 3 will be done soon, but he gave the opportunity that the project might be discussed again.
“If I do make it, I want to make sure that this movie will be the best version.”
The Raid and its sequels are considered among the best in the genre. The story of the first movie highlighted the struggle of life through brutal and ruthless fighting action, while the sequel presents a greater narrative of evil.
Both films received high marks from critics, scoring 87% for the first film and 83% for the sequel on Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, audiences also responded positively to the Rama story, with Popcornmeter scores reaching 87%.
