Ghostbusters Movie Viewing Sequence
1. Ghostbusters (1984)
This first movie sequence is also considered the best Ghostbusters movie, introducing the original Ghostbusters team of Peter Venkman (Bill Muray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Hamis), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson).
They face their first adventure against Gozer who seeks to destroy the world. Only the Ghostbusters can stop him.
2. Ghostbusters 2 (1989)
After successfully saving New York City from a ghost attack, the Ghostbusters spirit extermination team was disbanded due to the damage done to the city during the battle.
However, when Peter Venkman learns that the spirits are interested in his girlfriend’s son, the team members decide to launch a pursuit mission against the ghosts.
Their search quickly ended in legal trouble, and they had to face trial. However, when the ghosts interrupt the judge, the judge issues an order allowing the Ghostbusters to return to work.
3. Ghostbusters (2016)
In 2016, Ghostbusters released a reboot movie featuring a new team of women. The team consists of Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones).
Unfortunately, this reboot movie has no connection to the previous Ghostbusters movies. As a result, the story of this movie is in a different universe from the 80s Ghostbusters and the current era.
4. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
After undergoing a reboot, Ghostbusters reconnects its story with the original timeline of the ’80s Ghostbusters.
The movie’s story focuses on the Spengler family, namely mother Callie (Carrie Coon) and her two children, Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace). They inherit the Spengler ranch and then discover a mysterious history that eventually frees one of Gozer’s guards.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the official continuation of the two original Ghostbuster films released in 1984 and 1989.
The movie is directed by Jason Reitman, who is the son of Ivan Reitman who created Ghostbuster in the 80s.
In Ghostbuster 3, Ivan Reitman only acts as a producer. Apart from being the director, Jason Reitman also serves as the screenwriter of this movie along with Gil Kenan.
5. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
In the new movie, the Spengler family will return. The Ghostbusters team will team up with the Ghostbusters team from the ’80s who will make a comeback in this latest movie.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire tells the story of the Spengler family returning to the place where it all began, the famed New York City fire department headquarters, to join the original Ghostbusters.
They have developed a secret research laboratory to deal with ghost capture in a more sophisticated manner.
However, when an ancient artifact is discovered and unleashes evil forces, new and old Ghostbusters must work together to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.
