Godzilla Minus One Director Wants to Make a Kaiju Fight

The director of Godzilla Minus One revealed that he wants to present Godzilla's fight with other kaiju. How did Toho respond?

We all know that Godzilla Minus One has a related story focus from the human side. It seemed logical to strike a balance between Godzilla’s epic battles against other Kaiju and the human character drama that was the main focus. Director Takahashi Yamazaki realized this and wanted to deliver.

In his interview with Empire, Takahashi stated that he hopes to feature a fight between Godzilla and another Kaiju.

Although it looks similar to what happened in MonsterVerse, the difference lies in the serious tone of the story and the drama of the human characters in it.

“I don’t know if anyone has presented a more serious tone in Kaiju versus Kaiju with human drama, and that challenge is something I really want to explore.”

Takahashi revealed that when a movie features a fight between Kaiju or monsters, the audience is easily drawn in and focused on the scene, so much so that they may forget about the human characters involved in the story. It will be interesting to see how Toho responds, if they will do so.

As of now, Toho has not confirmed or provided any information regarding the sequel. However, given the huge success of the movie, it is possible that Toho will agree to make a sequel to Godzilla Minus One.

By doing so, Takahashi was able to realize his desire to showcase the battle between Godzilla and other Kaiju with the main focus on the human role. Godzilla Minus One has been one of the most successful Godzilla films produced by Toho to date.

In fact, the success of this movie is not only in Japan but also almost all over the world. The movie has received many positive reviews and feedback. Recently, there have been hints of plans to make a sequel to Godzilla Minus One.
