Peacemaker creator and DCU bigwig James Gunn recently revealed some interesting information about the series’ first season.
In the Thread, Gunn explained that the first season of Peacemaker does not belong to the DC Universe storyline.
He also announced that the second season will take place after the events of the Superman movie. When a fan asked if this was significant and meant that the events in the Man of Steel movie would have an impact on Peacemaker Season 2, Gunn replied with an emphatic, “Yes.”
Peacemaker Season 2 Follows the Timeline in the DCU
Earlier in 2023, Gunn had announced that Peacemaker Season 2 would be in a new storyline, namely in the DCU.
That same year, Gunn also revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 would come after Superman. Regarding the timing of Season 2, Gunn had stated in a podcast that Peacemaker would return as soon as he was done with Superman.
He also confirmed that Adrian Chase/Vigilante will return, and will most likely appear before the second season of Peacemaker.
For those of you who haven’t watched the Peacemaker series, Peacemaker’s story focuses on Christopher Smith, a mercenary who has a very harsh attitude towards justice. He was determined to achieve peace at all costs, even if it meant using extreme violence.
He is then recruited by a secret agent to carry out a dangerous assignment that involves stopping a global threat. Peacemaker must face the moral repercussions of his actions and manage his relationships with unusual colleagues.
In the course of this dangerous mission, Peacemaker finds himself embroiled in a larger conspiracy and involved in a much more difficult fight than he ever imagined.
At the same time, she is also confronted with her dark past and must discover the true meaning of justice and redemption.
The series has been highly appreciated by critics and has many loyal fans. Praise was mostly directed at John Cena’s performance and the smart writing by James Gunn.
