British actor Idris Elba, will reportedly participate in the film project Masters of the Universe. Based on information from The Wrap, Idris Elba is currently in talks to participate in the movie that adapts this Mattel-made toy.
He will likely play the character of Man-at-Arms, who in the story serves as a military advisor to a kingdom as well as various other troops.
1. Idris Elba Acts with Nicgolas Galitzine in Masters of the Universe
Based on information from The Wrap, Idris Elba will appear alongside Nicholas Galitzine in this movie. Galitzine will play the character of He-Man. In addition, Camila Mendez will play Teela, and Alison Brie will play the character “Evil-Tyn.” Travis Knight has been tapped to direct the movie, while Chris Butler will write the script in place of David Callahan, Aaron, and Adam Nee.
Currently, information about the movie project is limited, including details about the storyline. However, according to People, the Masters of the Universe movie will tell the story of an orphan named Adam who finds out that he is actually a prince.
As a young boy, he descended to Earth in a spaceship. After several decades, Prince Adam returned to his home planet to fight the evil force known as Skeletor.
To defeat his evil foe, the Prince of Adam must uncover the secrets of his past and transform into He-Man, known as the most powerful man in the entire universe.
The Masters of the Universe movie is set to hit theaters worldwide exclusively on June 5, 2026.
2. Adapting a Character from a Toy Series
The movie is a collaboration between Escape Artists and Mattel Films. Masters of the Universe is a toy brand launched by Mattel in 1982.
This toy series features legendary characters like He-Man. Masters of the Universe was a tremendous success with very high sales. Thanks to the success of the toy line, Masters of the Universe then launched its animated series in 1983.
The series is called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which tells the story of Prince Adam of Eternia, a man who looks similar to He-Man.
The series managed to last for two seasons and has produced 130 episodes. Nonetheless, the story of He-Man still continues.
