The next Indonesian movie to be made into a Hollywood version is this friendship movie that was released in 2008. Directed by Riri Riza (Adventure Sherina), the movie tells the story of school children who are shackled by the chains of poverty.
Nevertheless, Andrea Hirata’s characters and friends did not give up and fought for their dreams to become useful figures for the nation. The movie attracted 4.6 million viewers at the time.
And who would have thought that the success of Laskar Pelangi, it is reported that the Hollywood remake of Laskar Pelangi will be handled by one of Brad Pitt’s production houses, Plan B.

3. The Raid
You must be familiar with this best Indonesian action movie. In fact, The Raid not only got a sequel, but also received tremendous appreciation on the international scene.
