James Cameron’s Hiroshima Bombing Movie to be Titled The Last Train From Hiroshima
In an interview with Deadline, James Cameron stated that the title of the movie will be The Last Train From Hiroshima. This will be James Cameron’s first movie outside the Avatar franchise since Titanic, which was released in 1997. The movie will chronicle the events that took place during World War II.
The Last Train From Hiroshima tells the true story of a Japanese citizen who survived the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima during World War II. He managed to board a train bound for Nagasaki and survived the A-bombing of the city. In his book, Pellegrino describes the experiences of people who managed to survive the tragic event.
In addition, Pellegrino also describes in detail the events and circumstances following the two-day American attack on Japan in August 1945, when the American Hiroshima bomb was dropped. The perspectives presented in the narrative come from two sides: the Japanese survivors and the American pilots.
Cameron Met One of the Survivors of the Hiroshima Bombing
The Oscar-winning director himself has indeed obtained the copyright to Charles Pellegrino’s book Ghosts of Hiroshima. In addition, Cameron also plans to utilize Pellegrino’s other book, Last Train From Hiroshima, which was published in 2015.
James Cameron stated that he had wanted to explore the theme of this movie for a long time.
“It’s a theme that I’ve always wanted to bring to life in a movie, which I’ve been wondering how to do for years.”
Cameron also revealed that he had met a survivor of the nuclear explosion a few days before he died. This made him unable to stay away from this movie project.
