James Gunn Releases DCU Superman First Poster

James Gunn and Warner Bros have started marketing the Superman DCU movie, one of which is launching the first official poster.

James Gunn and Warner Bros have given comic fans a festive early present with the launch of the first official poster for the DCU’s Superman set to hit screens next summer.

Marketing for the James Gunn-directed Superman movie has officially begun. On Monday (16/12/24), Warner Bros unveiled a teaser poster for the first film in the new DC Universe under the direction of Gunn and producer Peter Safran of DC Studios. They also invited media to view the Superman trailer at Warner’s Burbank location.

An exciting teaser trailer will also reportedly be released at 6am local time on Thursday, December 19. In preparation, a new image of David Corenswet in the lead role has been unveiled with the caption ‘Look up’ to further boost viewers’ enthusiasm.

1. The First Official Poster of James Gunn’s DCU Superman

David Corenswet (Twisters) plays the new Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) is the intrepid journalist Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (Nosferatu) plays the evil Lex Luthor.

Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell round out the supporting cast as Kal-El’s adoptive parents Pa and Ma Kent. On the other hand, Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, Christopher McDonald, and Wendell Pierce appear as Clark Kent’s colleagues at The Daily Planet.

A press release from Warner promises about the movie: “In his signature style, James Gunn interprets the legendary superhero in a newly imagined DC universe, combining grand action, humor, and emotion. He presents a Superman filled with compassion and a deep belief in the good of humanity.”

2. Krypto will also be Present

Some time ago, James Gunn shared the latest image of David Corenswet’s Superman DCU version with Krypto on Twitter. This image is the official first look of the Superman movie which will be released in 2025.

The director not only confirmed that Krypto will be in the movie. He also revealed that the character was inspired by Ozu, his dog. He explained how his personal experience influenced the development of this DCU movie.

Gunn adopted Ozu after starting to write the story for the Superman movie. Seeing firsthand the changes in Ozu, who previously never interacted with humans and had damaged his home. Then until he can finally adapt, become a source of inspiration for the character Krypto in the DCU.
