Although the Spawn Reboot movie project experienced several obstacles, the two actors from the MCU, Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner, were still chosen by Todd McFarlane to be the main roles in the Spawn reboot.
“As long as no one says otherwise (they’re still involved),” McFarlane told JoBlo.
He then also added, “What’s happening – again, Hollywood is in an interesting place that actors, writers, directors, producers, all have schedules, and opportunities are open and closed, right? You’ve heard it before. A lot of people have projects and then something else comes along and something gets delayed and you just have to show your schedule. So until someone tells me in my ear that these guys are not involved for whatever reason, then I assume I haven’t heard otherwise. Nobody’s talked to me about anybody being replaced.”
Spawn Reboot Movie Has No Director
Since 2018, Foxx and Renner have been involved in the Spawn reboot. Foxx will play the main character and Renner will play Detective Twitch.
Although McFarlane has assured fans repeatedly over the years that Foxx is still under contract, he hasn’t talked much about Renner’s casting since the first announcement.
Renner has just restarted his acting career after a serious accident last year. Recently, Renner shared his mixed feelings about returning to the camera. As of now, no announcement has been made regarding additional cast members for the Spawn movie.
The project also still doesn’t have a director. Previously, McFarlane was to direct the reboot, but the plan did not materialize.
Malcolm Spellman, Scott Silver, and Matthew Mixom have written the latest script for the Spawn reboot after joining the project in October 2022. Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse, estimates that the Spawn movie might be released in 2025.
The announcement of the Spawn reboot has been made since 2007, but the production has experienced many obstacles since it was announced.
