According to a report from Deadline, Jason Momoa has officially been chosen to play Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Before James Gunn took over at the helm of DC, Momoa was often mentioned for the role of Lobo. He had also expressed interest in the character, and today Momoa confirmed his involvement through a post on Instagram, where he shared a screenshot of a comment from a previous interview.
1. Jason Momoa Confirmed to Play Lobo
“I collect comics, and even though there aren’t too many now, they’ve always been my favorites. I always wanted to play Lobo, because I thought, ‘Hey? This is the perfect role,'” the actor revealed. Momoa also stated that if DC contacted him to play Lobo, it would be a “yes, definitely.” Alongside the Instagram screenshot, Momoa added a caption this morning that read, “They called.”
Interestingly, Momoa is the first actor from the DCEU to return with a new role under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Previously, Momoa had expressed his desire to play Lobo.
“Lobo has always been one of my favorite characters. If they asked me to play him, of course my answer would be ‘yes’,” Momoa said in an interview in 2023. Now, his dream has come true, and fans are excited to see how he will bring this character to life in the movie.
2. About Lobo’s Character
Jason Momoa will play an intergalactic bounty hunter nicknamed “The Main Man” in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film is scheduled to air on June 26, 2026 and is the second project in the DCU after Superman: Legacy.
In this movie, Momoa will star alongside Milly Alcock (from House of the Dragon) who will play Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, who is the main enemy.
With this talented lineup, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is anticipated to deliver an incredible adventure across the galaxy.
Lobo, the character Momoa will play, is an iconic antihero with a brutal style and dark humor. He hails from the planet Czarnia and possesses super strength, regeneration abilities, and durability that make him a very formidable opponent.
