Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the trailer for Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the hit video game adaptation that releases in 2021. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 24, 2025.
The first movie has introduced a number of iconic characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise. In this sequel, we will see more familiar figures from the legendary game world.
1. Mortal Kombat 2 Trailer
After the release of the first film in 2021 to mixed reviews, this sequel looks set to make up for any shortcomings with more dramatic action, legendary characters, and of course, the emergence of Johnny Cage as the main focus.
In a trailer that lasts about two minutes, Mortal Kombat 2 features thrilling fight scenes, set against the backdrop of the iconic tournaments that are the main elements of the franchise.
The character of Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), seems to take over the focus of the story this time. He is called by Raiden and Sonya Blade to participate in this dangerous tournament with the aim of saving the world from a huge threat.
Mortal wounds, broken bones, and flashy Mortal Kombat-style combat adorn every moment, ensuring that the film sticks to the tradition of over-the-top violence, which has been a hallmark since the game’s days in the 90s.
With a promising trailer and the presence of iconic characters, Mortal Kombat 2 looks like it will be a must for fans of action, bloody fighting, and of course fans of the famous Mortal Kombat game.
2. Other Characters that Steal the Show

Damon Herriman appears as Quan Chi, an evil wizard, while Martyn Ford, known as a bodybuilder, plays Shao Kahn, a cruel emperor from the Outworld dimension.
In addition, Ana Thu Nguyen plays Queen Sindel, Kitana’s mother; Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Kitana’s father; and CJ Bloomfield as Baraka, a fanged fighter with retractable claws.
Joe Taslim also returns to action after previously appearing as Sub-Zero in the first film. Simon McQuoid returns to the director’s chair after making his debut in the previous Mortal Kombat film.
