You may have already heard that Joker: Folie a Deux is a sequel that failed miserably. Joker 2 became the lowest-rated comic book movie adaptation.

Joker: Folie a Deux now has the lowest CinemaScore in the history of comic book movie adaptation ratings with a D grade. This is an unprecedented occurrence. Over the past 30 years, no comic book movie that was considered bad has scored lower than that.

CinemaScore is usually a fairly accurate indicator of audience reaction, often higher than critics’ ratings for blockbusters, or lower for lesser-known films.

Some other movie rating sites, such as Rotten Tomatoes, initially gave a score of 48% for this movie, which then decreased to 33%. Meanwhile, for the assessment of the audience, this movie only reached 30%.

Joker 2 has set a record as the lowest-rated and lowest-grossing superhero movie. Joker itself was a successful movie by Todd Phillips in 2018, which even created a new phenomenon at the time.

Initially, Phillips stated that he would not be making a sequel, but he finally announced that a sequel titled Joker: Folie A Deux was released in early October. Fans’ expectations of the movie were high, especially after the overwhelming success of the first movie. However, many fans were disappointed after watching the movie.

2. Joker 2 was also a Revenue Failure

In addition to being the lowest-rated superhero movie, Joker 2 is also almost a total failure in terms of revenue. Joker 2, also known as Joker: Folie A Deux, earned $40 million in its first week of release in the domestic market.

Meanwhile, the total global revenue in the first week reached USD 121 million. The $40 million figure is three times lower than the first week earnings of the first Joker movie. In fact, this 40 million dollar income is lower if we compare it with The Flash and The Marvels movie.
