Recently, the latest trailer for the movie Joker: Folie à Deux or Joker 2 has been released and it looks crazy and wild. The funky music in the trailer gives a small clue about the musical concept that the movie uses.
This year DC is not releasing many film projects, Warner Bros Discovery and DC Studios have one film project that is highly anticipated by fans. The film project is the continuation of the Joker film which was released in 2019.
Some Interesting Things in the Joker 2 Trailer
While the story has yet to be explained in detail, some important information has already been shared. The title “Folie à Deux” refers to a psychiatric state where delusions or hallucinations spread from one person to another.
This suggests that Joker 2 is likely to explore the relationship between Joker and Harley. As we’ve seen, both of them suffer from mental illness, along with their relationship being toxic. They embark on a journey together that mostly takes place in Arkham Asylum.
There are several elements seen in this movie trailer. One of them is the confirmation that Joker 2 will have a musical element. In the trailer, we can see how strong the influence of music is in this movie, especially with the presence of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
Then, the Joker 2 movie will actually feature the character of lawyer Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. Although not seen in the trailer, Harvey Dent’s voice is heard at the beginning of the trailer saying that “They believe Arthur Fleck to be a martyr. But he’s not that.”
Arthur Fleck’s influence in Gotham seems to be getting stronger and stronger, judging by the support he received in the trial. However, unfortunately the Joker 2 movie trailer has not given a clear picture of the actual storyline.
Bigger Production Budget than the First Movie
The movie Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to hit theaters in October 2024. Before that, it will have its premiere at the 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival which will run from August 28 to September 7.
A noticeable difference is in the production quality of the first movie, mainly due to the huge increase in the production budget. In 2019, the first movie’s budget was only $55 million, while for “Folie à Deux” the budget increased to $200 million.
There is no denying that the movie Joker (2019) was a huge success in terms of ratings and revenue in theaters. The movie received 11 Academy Awards nominations, with Joaquin Phoenix winning the Best Actor award and Hildur Guðnadóttir winning the Best Original Score award.
