Josh O’Connor has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg new movie. O’Connor is best known for his role as Prince Charles in seasons 3 and 4 of the hugely popular Netflix series, The Crown.
He was also cast in director Luca Guadagnino’s emotional tennis drama Challengers, where he was involved in a love triangle with Zendaya and Mike Faist.
Currently, O’Connor is on the set of Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, starring opposite Alana Haim. In addition, she will also appear in the third installment of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise, Wake Up Dead Man, which will be released in 2025.
Josh O’Connor to Join Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg New Movie
According to Variety, Josh O’Connor will join Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson (Bad Sisters, Flora and Son). They will complete the cast list in this untitled movie. Universal Pictures will release the film on May 15, 2026.
Steven Spielberg’s new movie is based on a script by David Koepp. Koepp has previously collaborated with Spielberg on several acclaimed films such as Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The studio is calling the project an original movie, although the plot details are still under wraps. The script of the movie itself is inspired by a story that Spielberg wrote and the movie will likely have sci-fi elements.
Kristie Macosko Krieger, who has also worked with Spielberg on films from A.I. Artificial Intelligence to West Side Story, will serve as producer.
Steven Spielberg is one of Hollywood’s most successful directors in terms of box office. He directed major films such as Jaws and E.T., as well as the famous Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park series.
In addition, Spielberg has also won three Oscars for his work on Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. Most recently, he collaborated with Universal to produce The Fabelmans, which tells the semi-autobiographical story of a teenager with a passion for filmmaking who grew up in Arizona and Northern California.
