Now, this film ranks at the top of Netflix’s list of the five most popular films. Kpop Demon Hunters beat Red Notice, Carry-On, Don’t Look Up, and The Adam Project.

The KPop Demon Hunters animated film has officially become the most popular film in Netflix history, reaching 236 million views, surpassing Red Notice, which previously led with 230.9 million views.

Netflix announced this achievement on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, local time. Tudum Netflix also noted that this film is not only the most-watched Netflix original animated film, but also the most popular English-language film on the platform.

According to Soompi, this achievement is even more impressive considering that the film was only released on June 20, 2025, meaning that in just over two months, it managed to surpass all other titles in the Netflix catalog.

In addition, the Sing-Along version of the film was screened on August 23–24, 2025, in more than 1,000 theaters in North America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, selling out everywhere and becoming the number one film at the box office that weekend.

On the other hand, the film’s soundtrack also made history on Billboard, where the music album became the first soundtrack to have four songs simultaneously in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and overall remained at number two on the Billboard 200 with more than 3 billion streams globally.

The song Golden even topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Global 200 charts. The special collaboration with Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung from TWICE on the song “Takedown” (TWICE version) also attracted attention.

Maggie Kang, one of the directors, stated that TWICE’s presence is proof that the film successfully captures the authentic atmosphere of K-pop. Critics also gave positive responses; Rotten Tomatoes gave it a score of 97 percent (Certified Fresh), while audiences gave it a rating of 91 percent.
