About Marvel Kukulkan

According to the comics, there is no information about Kukulkan there because Namor’s origin story is unrelated. When the live-action adaptation was made, Namor apparently got a new origin update that took him to another mythology.

In fact, Kukulkan is a god who worshiped many ancient tribes of Mesoamerica, Central, and North America. Basically, Kukulkan refers to the Feathered Serpent God aka the Winged Serpent God.

Namor Is Kukulkan in the MCU?

In the Official Trailer of Black Panther 2, more about Namor is mentioned mainly about important matters, meaning his mythological origin. M’Baku (Winston Duke) has already mentioned the name. He talks in dialogue and says Kukulkan is dangerous.

Marvel Kukulkan is said to be a dangerous thing because they can create disaster when they are killed. So what does Kukulkan mean? Let’s find out.

Kukulkan is one of the Gods in Mesoamerican mythology. Based on Wikipedia, Kukulkan is a God or entity in Mesoamerican mythology and belief. The Kukulkan is worshiped by the Yukatek Maya tribe.

It is known as the Feathered Serpent creature related to Quetzalcoatl from Aztec mythology. One of the modern mythologies Kukulkan says that he is a winged entity that can fly up to the Sun.

Changing the Origin Story to Avoid DC

There’s the simple thing why Namor got the change over the comics and became an Aztec instead of Atlantis. Changes must happen to avoid comparisons between DC and Marvel fans. So if you missed it, Namor is not Atlantis or Atlantis but comes from Aztec or Mayan mythology.

The Namor Kingdom was named not Atlantis but Talocan. In the country of Talocan, Namor may still have different from the others. Maybe still half human half nation and also born as a Mutant who has wings on his ankles.

The character played by actor Tenoch Huerta has been confirmed to play an important role in the film. We can assume Marvel’s Kukulkan is Namor, but there’s more potential.

On the other hand, Kukulkan is Namor, what if that’s what happens to Black Panther who gets power from God Bast. Based on Black Panther, Namor might also get power from God Kukulkan. It could be that Namor is a Mutant, but it could also get the power of a God figure.

But you have to know, this is just a theory if we compare it to Moon Knight and Black Panther. We will soon see the action of Marvel Kukulkan on November 11.
