The latest news regarding Paradise Lost, the Wonder Woman prequel, was shared by James Gunn through his Threads account.

James Gunn, one of the heads of DC Studios, recently gave a Wonder Woman update on the prequel called Paradise Lost.

He revealed this when answering a fan’s question on the Threads platform, Gunn then explained the progress of Paradise Lost production.

Gunn explained that the Paradise Lost project is still in active development, like many other titles. According to him, a project is only considered in production once it has received official approval.

Currently, several projects such as Superman, Supergirl, Penguin, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and several animated projects have already received approval for production. The Paradise Lost project will enter production once the script is ready for filming.

In January 2023, Gunn and Peter Safran announced 10 new projects included in Chapter 1 of the DC Universe, and one of them was Paradise Lost.

The series is a live-action version that depicts the story of Themyscira in a similar style to Game of Thrones, with dark elements, drama, and political intrigue in a society populated by women.

Currently, Paradise Lost is the only Wonder Woman-related project in development for the DCU after the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 starring Gal Gadot.

After Gunn announced that Paradise Lost would be set before the birth of Wonder Woman, many fans speculated whether the series would adapt the graphic novel Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons.

Gunn has previously praised the graphic novel on social media platforms. The graphic novel consists of three issues published by DC’s Black Label from November 2021 to December 2022.

Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons is by Kelly Sue DeConnick with illustrations by Phil Jimenez, Gene Ha, and Nicola Scott. The series depicts the lost history of the Amazons, exploring their origins, internal conflicts, and Queen Hippolyta’s journey to a position of power.

This graphic novel is known for its in-depth story and stunning images. In fact, this work has been widely praised as one of the best works DC’s Black Label has ever published.

Therefore, it is only natural that James Gunn plans to adapt the story into Paradise Lost. With some changes to fit the latest stories in the DCU, it might be a way to introduce Wonder Woman’s new character in the DCU.

However, these are still just possibilities and we hope to have more information about Paradise Lost soon.
