Stitch is back, causing chaos in the Disney universe, and this time in a live action format. Disney has released the teaser trailer for the live action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch via its official YouTube channel. The little blue alien is seen back in action with the damage he caused.
1. Lilo & Stitch Live Action Teaser Trailer
Much like the live-action trailer for How to Train Your Dragon released last week, the most interesting part of this live-action teaser is actually the animated elements. However, to be honest, Disney hasn’t shown much more than just Stitch.
In the 30-second trailer, viewers will see a sand castle similar to the one in the animated movie, with a beautiful blue ocean in the background. However, the beauty is destroyed when Stitch comes stomping and knocks down the castle.
Dean Fleischer Camp directs this latest movie based on a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. The script was inspired by the 2002 film by collaborative directors Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin served as producers for the project.
In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote the movie he directed, The Wild Robot, Sanders revealed the possibility of him returning to voice Stitch.
“I’ve seen some things, but I can’t share information about what I’ve seen,” Sanders said at the time. “They also gave me a chance to see some footage of the scripts that have been written, and it was very interesting.”
Camp himself previously directed the film Marcel the Shell With Shoes On which received an Oscar nomination in 2021 from A24.
2. Cast List
Newcomer Maia Kealoha will play Lilo in the live-action version of the animated film set in Hawaii that was released in 2002. Originally, the project was planned to air on Disney+, but it was later decided to be shown in theaters.
Besides Maia, there are also other cast members such as Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Hannah Waddingham.
Disney continues to prioritize the production of live-action films featuring favorite characters. The prequel film directed by Barry Jenkins, ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, will hit theaters next month. In addition, the movie ‘Snow White’ featuring Rachel Zegler will be released in March 2025.
