2. Why is the Sequel a Musical Movie?
Unlike the first movie, Joker 2 carries a concept that is more similar to a musical. Many viewers were surprised because they did not expect that the musical element would be a dominant part of the movie.
As Variety reported, on October 3, 2024, director Todd Phillips explained the reason behind the use of strong musical elements in the film.
He said that this was a way for Arthur Fleck to express his feelings, which were previously buried in the first movie.
“So (to convey his feelings) he sang it,” he said.
