The director of Madame Web revealed the timeline of the movie. Reportedly, Madame Web’s timeline is not directly connected to Morbius, Venom, or Kraven the Hunter.
Sony has revealed the release schedule for Madame Web, which will be the latest movie in their SSU franchise. The movie will be a continuation of Morbius and both Venom movies.
Interestingly, Madame Web will also be released before the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie. However, while the majority of superhero movies have connections with other movies in the same universe, that won’t be the case with Madame Web.
1. Madame Web Timeline
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, director S. J. Clarkson revealed that the Madame Web movie will have an independent story, with no direct connection to Morbius, Venom, or Kraven the Hunter.
This is surprising considering most superhero movies are usually connected, especially if they are in the same universe.
“It (Madame Web) is definitely in an independent world. I was able to be completely free and let the movie be what it needed to be, instead of trying to force it to be something else. It was a gift, in a sense, to be able to take something and give it a fresh and I hope original approach.” said S. J. Clarkson.
According to the latest news, Spider-Man originally appeared in Madame Web, either with Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland, but the plan was eventually canceled.
A recent article from Entertainment Weekly also explains that the Madame Web story took place about two decades ago, in 2003.
This makes the story take place years before the events of Venom. As such, it can ignore the events of the other movies and focus entirely on Madame Web’s story.
2. Three Spider-Women in attendance
The movie features Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb and tells the story of the beginnings of Madame Web. That’s probably why the movie is set in the past.
The movie follows the journey of Madame Web and three Spider-Women played by Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced, as they are pursued by a very powerful enemy played by Tahar Rahim.
The film’s script was written by Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, and Claire Parker. Meanwhile, Lorenzo di Bonaventura acted as the producer of this movie. Some of the other stars who took part were Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet.
