The X-Men movie reboot reportedly has potential actors to play the famous mutants in the upcoming movies in the MCU. While the MCU is still focused on The Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios is also working on other big parts of the franchise. This certainly signals that the moment for the X-Men is approaching.
On the other hand, Marvel Studios has hired Michael Lesslie as the scriptwriter for the X-Men movie. However, until now, they have not announced who will direct it.
Marvel is still keeping an official release date for X-Men. However, Disney has set some slots for the upcoming Marvel movies: July 23, 2027, February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028. If we follow the previous release pattern, it is most likely that X-Men will air in July 2027.
1. X-Men MCU Cast Candidates

A report from Jeff Sneider in The InSneider newsletter revealed that Marvel is considering several new rising stars for important roles in the upcoming X-Men MCU films.
The report states that the first generation of X-Men will feature Harris Dickinson as Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey. On the other hand, Julia Butters, who appeared in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and The Gray Man, will play Kitty Pryde or Shadowcat, a mutant who has the ability to disappear.
Sneider stated that although the contract has not been officially agreed, the selection of actors is influenced by various factors that are sometimes difficult to predict. Such as salary, schedule, and the level of commitment Marvel expects from young actors.
Moreover, Dickinson is reportedly the strongest candidate to play John Lennon in the Beatles biopic. The movie itself will consist of four parts by Sam Mendes and is scheduled to air in 2027.
2. Mutants Could Appear First in Other MCU Movies

In addition, there is a possibility that mutant characters will debut earlier in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. This is similar to the way Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman who plays Black Panther first appeared in Captain America: Civil War before getting their own movie.
Marvel Studios has started inserting mutant elements into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in recent years. In the series Ms. Marvel (2022), it was revealed that Kamala Khan is a mutant.
In addition, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) features Patrick Stewart returning to his role as Professor X. Furthermore, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Namor as a mutant, and Kelsey Grammer also returned as Beast in The Marvels (2023).
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has previously signaled that the MCU will soon enter the “Age of Mutants” after the launch of Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
