Here are the 5 MCU movies with the shortest runtime so far. There’s no denying once again that like most fandom/franchise top movies. Movies in the MCU’s superhero franchise, on average, have a long running time.

Although this may still cause cons for some of us, the fact is that this is the current trend. In other words, the minimum duration of an MCU movie is 120 minutes or 2 hours. While the rest are more than that.

But despite this, in fact, there are also several MCU films whose shorter or less than 120 minutes. And here are 5 MCU movies with the shortest runtime so far.

5. Ant-Man and the Wasp (118 Minutes)

The first MCU movie with the shortest runtime so far is Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). Although only 2 minutes less than 120 minutes. But it’s still not exactly 120 minutes in the end, is it? Anyway, with 118 minutes, this sequel to Ant-Man (2015) can be said to be quite less long.

Because even though it’s almost 2 hours. The movie still lacks in explaining the origin of its main villain, Ava Starr aka Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Though once again, she is the main villain.

As a result, in this movie we only know him according to what the movie shows. This is once again a shame. Fortunately, this aspect is successfully covered by the movie, which is really cool and efficient in showing the plot of Janet Van Dyme’s (Michelle Pfeiffer) search as well as, a deeper exploration of the quantum world (Quantum Realm).

4. Ant-Man (117 Minutes)

The next shortest MCU movie so far is the first Ant-Man movie. Now in contrast to the sequel, the first Ant-Man movie is very fitting and very good in duration.

117 minutes doesn’t feel long and it doesn’t feel fast either. This is because the movie is very successful in managing and balancing the elements of drama, comedy, and action. In fact, we can say that the comedy element of this movie is much more dominant. Which, this once again certainly makes the duration feel very good.

3. Doctor Strange (115 Minutes)

I don’t know guys. If we pay attention, the short duration of MCU movies always looks and feels effective if the movie is the first movie of the superhero (debut movie). As for sequels, for some reason it’s always lacking.

And this is also what happened with the movie debut of the “Doctor Strange” or “Marvel’s Superhero”. If we think about it, the origin of Stephen Strange (Bendedict Cumberbatch) becoming Doctor Strange and also the whole mystical world is very complex and extensive.

But the crazy thing is, this movie can summarize and facilitate everything in a duration that is not even 120 minutes. And once again, this has been one of the main strengths of MCU storytelling for a long time.

2. Thor (114 Minutes)

As we know the case of Thor is the same as Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). This character’s alias for non-fans of Marvel comics, is not so familiar.

And the cool thing is that when the first Thor movie was released in 2011, Marvel and director Kenneth Branagh (Belfast, Death on the Nile) were very successful in familiarizing the character and story of this superhero and god of thunder of Asgard.

The cool thing is that Branagh and his friends successfully familiarized it in a duration of 114 minutes. But indeed, the success of this movie is also greatly influenced by all the actors. Especially Chris Hemsworth (Vacation) as Thor and of course our idol, Tom Hiddleston (I Saw the Light) as Loki.

1. Thor: The Dark World (112 Minutes)

Yep, this is the MCU movie with the super-duper short duration so far. But ironically, unlike the original movie, which is getting shorter in duration, this sequel is even more “pathetic” in quality.

Whether you agree or not, Thor: The Dark World is one of the most disappointing MCU movies. The potential of the storyline is huge. But unfortunately, director Alan Taylor (Terminator: Genisys) didn’t seem to be very good at directing it.

The point is that this movie is very boring. This is further exacerbated by the villain Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) who is undeniably a forgotten villain.

Malekith’s potential as a villain is huge. With all these opinions, it’s no wonder that even though the duration is only 112 minutes, the movie feels very long and tiring. But if you like this movie, good, I’m happy if you like it.

Okay, those were the 5 MCU movies with the shortest runtime so far. Which of these five do you think is the shortest?
