Warner Bros. studio has finally unveiled the first trailer for Mickey 17, which features a number of deaths of Robert Pattinson ‘s characters.
The new film is a sci-fi masterpiece and is the latest project from director Bong Joon-Ho after his Oscar win with Parasite, which won Best Picture.
The movie Mickey 17 tells the story of a man named Mickey Barnes. He is a hero who is specifically sent on a high-risk mission in search of a new life.
Mickey is on a mission to establish a new human colony on an icy planet called Nilfheim. He was often chosen for very dangerous missions, even ones that could threaten his life.
1. Mickey 17 Trailer Shows Robert Pattinson’s Suicide Mission
The first trailer features Robert Pattinson as the main character named Mickey. The 2-minute 20-second video initially features the character Mickey (Robert Pattinson) who is on a space station and is undergoing an experiment.
Mickey is then seen participating in an experimental program called Expendable. Despite not fully understanding the details of the experiment, Mickey decides to take part.
Someone then explained about the experiment Mickey would be undergoing. He will serve as a subject in an experiment on a new ice planet discovered by humans. Mickey is assigned a series of missions to study the new planet. If he dies during one of the missions, he will rise again in a different body, but with the same memories.
The rest of the trailer shows Mickey’s journey as he goes on one mission after another, dying in an accident or attack by a creature, and finally being revived in a new body.
After experiencing about six deaths, Mickey began to realize what he was doing and why no one else had ever taken on the role before.
Mickey didn’t fully understand what his task entailed, including being prepared to sacrifice his life. Even so, he had no problem giving his life to complete the mission.
However, there was a big surprise. Apparently, Mickey’s body or consciousness, which was previously thought to be dead, is still alive. Finally, Mickey’s six bodies must live simultaneously.
In the experiment, people who multiply are referred to as Multiples. The trailer further shows Mark Ruffalo playing the Marshal, who seems to be explaining a rule that everyone who experiences Multiples must be eliminated.
At the end of the trailer, we see the chaos that ensues after Mickey doubles up and starts causing a ruckus in the company.
2. Based on a Novel Adaptation
Mickey 17 is an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7, released in 2022. Bong Joon-ho wrote and acted as director in this movie.
In addition, Bong Joon-ho also served as a producer, working with Doo Ho Choi, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner. This project is their latest collaboration after the movie Okja, which was released in 2017.
In addition to Robert Pattinson, a number of well-known actors from Hollywood also participated in Mickey 17. Among them are Steven Yeun, star of the Beef series, Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie, and Toni Collette. Mickey 17 is scheduled to air on January 31, 2025.
