1. Zanna: Whisper of the Volcano Isle – January 2
The latest movie to hit theaters in January 2025 is an animated film called Zanna: Whisper of the Volcano Isle. The story follows a young girl named Zanna who is separated from her family and accidentally enters a magical world full of wonders.
On this journey, Zanna is accompanied by two fairies, Dinda and Novi, as they face various obstacles and fight the dark forces that threaten the new world they have entered.
2. Utusan Iblis – January 2, 2025
Next, there is a horror movie called Utusan Iblis. This movie tells the story of Olivia, a psychiatrist who is involved in investigating a cruel murder case involving a young mother.

3. The Damned – January 3

With reserves dwindling, Eva and her supportive community must decide whether they will rescue the crew members of the doomed ship or prefer to preserve their own survival.
In the end, after the decision is made, they bring home fear and regret in a story that unfolds through dreams and visions. They feel as if they have to face the consequences of the choices they have made and are oppressed by guilt.
The residents then felt a deepening fear and began to believe that they were all being punished for their choices.
4. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera – January 8
Next up is Den of Thieves 2. The movie will continue Big Nick and Donnie Wilson’s adventures in Europe. This time, they target the biggest and most secure diamond sales locations, more so than in the previous movie.
Although the outline of the story is still the same, with Big Nick chasing the escaped Donnie Wilson to Europe, he tries to find out where Donnie is by using CCTV footage. As a Sheriff, he traveled to continental Europe to uncover the plan they were executing.
Of course, Donnie Wilson had a plan to steal some of the diamonds in the building. However, Big Nicky wanted to see for himself if this plan could change things in their favor.
5. Ketindihan – January 9
The movie Ketindihan follows the journey of Tania, a young tennis player who feels pressured by her father’s big ambitions and toxic relationship with her boyfriend.
In desperation, Tania summons a genie named Beuno, an entity from Acehnese myth to help her in her dreams. But it paved the way for more horrific terrors in the real world. Nurul, who accompanied him during the ritual, committed suicide afterward.
The movie offers a suspenseful and different psychological horror experience.
6. Almarhum – January 9

The next new movie to hit theaters in January 2025 comes from Thailand, 404 Run Run. 404 Run Run Run tells the life of a real estate scammer named Nakrob (Ter Chantavit). One day, Nakrob stumbles upon an abandoned hotel by the beach, named Sukhee Nirun.
The hotel was sold at a low price. Seeing an opportunity, he decided to turn it into a luxury hotel. However, Nakrob soon realized that the hotel was still inhabited by the ghost of the original owner. The ghost also disturbs Nakrob. So what is Nakrob’s fate?
10. 1 Imam 2 Makmum – January 16
The movie tells the complicated journey of Anika (Amanda Manopo) and Arman’s (Fedi Nuril) marriage. Arman is a widower who still harbors love for his late wife, Leila (Revalina S. Temat), who passed away four years ago.
Anika felt disappointed in many ways about her marriage. From having to sleep separately to Arman’s unwillingness to lead prayers together. Anika’s disappointment deepens when she realizes that Arman’s room is still filled with memories of Leila.
11. Pengantin Setan – January 16
Next up is the horror movie Bride of Satan. Taken from a true story popular on YouTube, this movie tells the story of a couple who experience supernatural disturbances in their home after three years of marriage.
The initially harmonious relationship suddenly turns tense and full of mystery, making them have to face the dark secrets hidden in the house.
12. Eva: Pendakian Terakhir – January 16
The next new movie to hit theaters in January 2025 is Eva: The Last Ascent. it tells the story of a group of young people who experience supernatural terror while climbing a mountain.
This mysterious incident began when some of them violated the existing restrictions during the climb. As a result, they and the villagers at the foot of the mountain had to face various major disasters.
The movie features actors such as Kiesha Alvaro, Bulan Sutena, Ashira Zamita, Ilham Aji Santoso, Axel Matthew Thomas, and Hanna Kinasih.
13. Bayang-Bayang Anak Jahanam – January 16, 2025
The movie focuses on a child named Agni who has mysterious powers that lead to the destruction of his family. The movie explores the tensions within a family entangled by evil energies and dark secrets.

14. Wolf Man – January 17
Next up is Wolf Man, Universal Studios’ latest movie. It’s too early to say much about this movie, but Universal is working on the next reboot of the classic monster by Leigh Whannell, the man who surprised us in 2020 with The Invisible Man.
The movie tells the story of a father who transforms into a wolf after his family is attacked by a mysterious figure.
What is certain is that Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott have agreed to be cast in the project, but there is no further information yet. If Whannell can bring the same charm that made The Invisible Man so successful, we can expect to see exciting things in this Wolf Man movie.
15. In The Grey – January 17
Next up is In The Grey. Jake Gyllenhaal recently appeared in Prime Video’s Road House, where he showed his tough guy attitude in Guy Ritchie’s latest action thriller. Previously, Gyllenhaal also appeared in Ritchie’s war thriller, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant.
Now, he will collaborate with Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzalez, who reunite after Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. These three characters form an intrepid team determined to reclaim the billions that have been stolen from them.
16. Keajaiban Air Mata Wanita – January 23
The movie, based on a true story, tells the story of a woman’s struggle to rise from adversity by relying on prayer and faith.
The movie stars Citra Kirana and Rezky Adhitya, and tells the story of Kiki’s struggle. Kiki is a single mother who tries to face various obstacles in life after losing her husband. This story adapts the book entitled “The Secret of Magnet Rezeki” by Nasrullah.
17. 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan – January 23
The next new movie to hit theaters in January 2025 is 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan. 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan tells the story of the life journey of Moko, an architecture student who will be played by Chicco Kurniawan.
One day, Moko’s two older siblings passed away suddenly. The departure of Moko’s siblings left behind children who still needed guidance and attention.
18. Mama – January 23
Mama tells the story of Wahyu (Rizky Hanggono) who has to act as a father and mother to his daughter, Dinda (Nafiza Fatia Rani). Wahyu’s wife, Mira (Ayu Inten), passed away in an accident.
After that, Wahyu decided to take Dinda away from the city crowd on the advice of Rizal (Tanta Ginting). This step was taken for the safety of both of them.
At home away from the noise of the city, Dinda and Wahyu continue to live their lives while struggling through grief. Dinda’s love for her mother never fades. When Dinda missed her late mother, a woman appeared who could slowly fill the void. Finally, Dinda called her mama.
19. Sebelum 7 Hari – January 23

20. Dark Nuns – January 24

Nun Junia (Song Hye Kyo) is directly involved in trying to save the child from the evil spirit. The child was already very weak and in great pain due to the presence of the evil spirit inside her.
21. Pengantin Iblis – January 29
Next up is a local horror movie at the end of January, Pengantin Iblis. The story revolves around Ranti, a mother who is caught in a dilemma when her daughter has a terrible accident.
In order to save her son, Ranti is forced to negotiate with the devil, even though she has to pay a very high price. The movie combines elements of supernatural horror with heartfelt emotional drama.
22. Perayaan Mati Rasa – January 29
The next new movie to hit theaters in January 2025 is Iqbaal Ramadhan’s latest film, Celebration of Mati Rasa. The film follows the journey of Ian (Iqbaal Ramadhan) who struggles to realize his dreams with his band in order to fulfill existing expectations.
