Bob Odenkirk, who played Hutch in Nobody, reappeared looking more scarred than ever in the first look of the upcoming Nobody 2.
Nobody 2 quickly resumed production during this summer. Currently, Nobody 2 is scheduled to premiere in August 2025. Tjahjanto has assembled a stellar cast to accompany Odenkirk.
Christopher Lloyd will return as David Mansel, Hutch’s father. Colin Hanks has also joined the franchise and will play the character of a “corrupt sheriff”, while Sharon Stone will play the main villain.
1. Nobody 2 First Look
Empire has shared images from Nobody 2 in their 2025 preview issue. Director Timo Tjahjanto explained to the media how this sequel differs from the first film.
In the image, the character can be seen facing off against a group of villains in an intense fight. With his face full of blood, Hutch aims his weapon at an unseen figure on the screen.
“Now that Hutch is back in action with a fiery passion, how will his family react to his wild side?” he explains. “You’re going to see a lot of questions from fathers and husbands – ‘How do they deal with this side of me that’s always fighting and working for the family?’ It’s going to be a very interesting journey to watch.”
Tjahjanto is perhaps the ideal director for this project. Although he started his career in horror, he has now shown his ability in the action genre. His works such as The Big 4 and The Shadow Strays have received positive responses, with critics appreciating his ability to deliver creative scenes while still maintaining the storyline.
It’s easy to understand why he was chosen to direct Nobody 2, and we hope he can deliver another groundbreaking action movie, where Hutch can overcome more obstacles in his way.
2. First Movie Success
Nobody, released in 2021, managed to earn a global revenue of $57.5 million, despite only having a production budget of $16 million. The film came out as theaters were recovering from the effects of the pandemic.
In addition, the movie also received positive reviews from critics who praised Odenkirk’s transformation into an action star. Odenkirk, who we know from his roles as Saul Goodman in the TV series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, took on the huge challenge of directing Nobody and even did most of the action scenes himself.
Nobody is a highly entertaining movie that shares similarities with John Wick, perhaps because it is the work of Derek Kolstad, the writer of John Wick. The movie is full of impressive stunts and action, leaving the audience mesmerized.
Looking at the first look of Nobody 2, the sequel looks like it will bring more action – perhaps by ramping up the intensity as is often the case with movie sequels. The success of this movie will likely depend on what Timo has to offer besides gory action scenes.
John Wick managed to create a huge franchise by deepening the creative world in each sequel. Hopefully, Nobody 2 can expand on the foundation that the first movie has built.
