In addition to Kraven the Hunter himself, here are 4 Spider-Man villains who also appear in the Kraven the Hunter trailer.

Sony Pictures has released the latest trailer for their Marvel superhero movie Kraven the Hunter. In this trailer, various villain characters from the Spider-Man universe are shown.

The Aaron Taylor-Johnson-starring film also features Rhino, a villain character who briefly appeared at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014).

Various Spider-Man villains other than Kraven himself have been shown by Sony in the Kraven the Hunter trailer. Who are they? Here’s the full explanation.

1. Kraven’s Step-Sister, Chameleon

The Kraven the Hunter trailer features the character of Dmitri Smerdyakov who actor Fred Hechinger plays. Dmitri is Kraven’s half-brother, and in the trailer, he is arrested for a crime he committed.

Furthermore, The Daily Bugle reported that he managed to escape from prison in a mysterious way. Dmitri will then transform into a supervillain by the name of Chameleon.

Chameleon first debuted six decades ago in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 comic released in 1963. He was the illegitimate son of the Russian patriarch Kravinoff and a servant. Throughout her life, she was often mistreated by her father and stepbrothers.

This made Dmitri an expert in disguise and Soviet spying. At first, he had no superpowers and was nicknamed Chameleon for his chameleon-like ability to change appearance. She is adept at mixing costumes and makeup to hide her identity.

2. Calypso, the Voodoo Witch

Another Spider-Man villain that appears in the next Kraven the Hunter trailer is Calypso. In this movie, the character is played by Ariana DeBose. Calypso is Kraven’s love interest, and they often work together on missions.

She possesses voodoo magic, is capable of casting spells, fortune telling, and mind control. Despite her love for Kraven, Calypso is often the brains behind Kraven the Hunter’s evil plans.

Calypso Ezili first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #209 published in October 1980, by Denny O’Neil and Alan Weiss. She was originally introduced as a supporting character in The Amazing Spider-Man #209 and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #65.

After Kraven’s death, Calypso used her magic to control the Lizard to help him attack Spider-Man in Spider-Man Vol. 1, #1-5.

3. The Foreigner, The Hitman

Furthermore, the trailer also features The Foreigner, played by actor Christopher Abbott. In the comics, the Foreigner and Kraven the Hunter have acted as enemies and friends in certain missions.

Foreigner is an assassin who often comes into conflict with Spider-Man. Although he is just an ordinary human, his fighting skills are very strategic and often pose a threat to both Spider-Man and Kraven the Hunter.

Writer Peter David created the character of Foreigner as a master assassin who becomes Spider-Man’s main enemy. David stated that the character was inspired by actor Patrick McGoohan.

The Foreigner’s voice first appeared in a phone conversation in a scene in David Michelinie’s Web of Spider-Man #15 (June 1986), but his full physical appearance was not seen until the following month in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #116 (July 1986).

4. Rhino, Villain Iconic Spider-Man

Rhino’s appearance in the latest Kraven the Hunter trailer is one of the most interesting things. After only appearing briefly in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Rhino’s appearance in Kraven the Hunter this time received a lot of praise.

Rhino was portrayed with significant resemblance to the version in Marvel Comics. In addition, his appearance is also considered better than the Rhino version from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which received a lot of criticism at the time.

Rhino first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #41-43 (October-December 1966) as a thug working for an Eastern Bloc country. He was willingly involved in an experiment that connected super-strong polymers to his skin, which increased his strength and speed.

The character appeared again in The Incredible Hulk (vol. 2) #104 (June 1968), and despite appearing to be dead at the end of the story, he returned to life in The Incredible Hulk (vol. 2) #124 (February 1970), and became a constant foe to Spider-Man and the Hulk.
