Rocky lead actor Sylvester Stallone is reportedly working on a script for a prequel to the movie. The Rocky franchise is one of the most successful sports movie series to date.
There are more than five movies in the series, and that number is added to the Rocky sequel project known as Creed, which has spawned three movies to date.
The movie Creed showed Rocky’s decision to train Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed. Although Rocky didn’t appear in Creed 3, it doesn’t seem to mark the end of the franchise.
Sylvester Stallone once revealed the possibility of a prequel to Rocky, and the latest news is that Stallone has written a few pages for the script.
Sylvester Stallone Scripts Rocky Prequel
“The Rocky prequel really touched my heart. I started writing a few pages, and the story just seemed to flow. The story depicts 15-year-old Adrian, 17-year-old Rocky, and Paulie who have just moved into a new neighborhood. Rocky is portrayed as a bad boy in the area. The movie is similar to ‘Lady and the Tramp’, but with real human characters.”
In 2021, Sylvester Stallone shared an image of a Rocky prequel.
In the post, Stallone is seen attempting to write a prequel story that is planned to be released on streaming platforms, possibly consisting of 10 episodes over several seasons.
However, after the announcement on his Instagram account, there has been no further information regarding the development of the Rocky prequel project, until it finally resurfaced in Stallone’s interview with Inspire Me UK.
Fans’ Doubts
The release of the Rocky prequel movie has raised concerns among many fans. They are worried about how the production will find the right actor to play Rocky when he was young.
Many fans felt that the plan to make a prequel and introduce a new cast for the character was not a good idea. However, this doesn’t mean that the series project is uninteresting or has no potential at all.
