The new live-action Snow White movie made its box office debut with low domestic revenue, earning only $43 million. However, in the international market, it did better with a total revenue of $87.3 million from 52 countries.
According to Variety‘s report, Snow White’s earnings were enough to make it the number one movie at the domestic box office. The latest movie featuring Rachel Zegler beat Black Bag, Captain America: Brave New World, Novocaine, and Mickey 17.
Snow White’s Box Office Debut is the Lowest of Disney’s Live Actions

Even so, these figures are still below the initial estimates for Snow White’s revenue in theaters. Initially, the studio predicted that the movie could earn US$100 million, with US$45 million-US$55 million from the domestic market and US$50 million from the international box office.
The film, which revived the animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), became Disney’s lowest-grossing remake. Snow White’s box office revenue was even lower than Dumbo (2019) which reached US$45 million.
Popular remake films such as The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Lion King (2019), Aladdin (2019), and The Little Mermaid (2023) successfully debuted with more than US$100 million.
Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King even reached a total revenue of over US$1 billion, while The Jungle Book came close with US$967 million.
Even so, Snow White still has a chance to succeed. This movie might be able to follow Mufasa’s achievements: The Lion King (2024). Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) initially grossed only US$35 million, but eventually collected US$717.5 million.
Snow White is under the direction of Marc Webb, while the script is by Erin Cressida Wilson. Marc Webb’s many works include (500) Days of Summer (2009), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and Gifted (2017).
Before its release, “Snow White” was controversial. Some of the issues that surfaced were the selection of Rachel Zegler as the role of Snow White, changes in the storyline, and Gal Gadot’s support for Israel, which also sparked pros and cons.
