James Gunn has finally officially announced that the House of the Dragon star has been cast as Supergirl in Superman: Legacy. The cast selection process for the movie Superman: Legacy seems to be almost complete.
This comes after James Gunn and Peter Safran managed to find the actress who will play Kara Zor-El in Superman: Legacy. The website The Warp first reported this news.
James Gunn Announces Supergirl Cast from His Instagram Account
In a previous report, House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock was in talks to play Supergirl.
The report also revealed that Kara will make her big screen debut in Superman: Legacy. Production on the movie itself will begin this spring. However, through his Instagram account, James Gunn officially introduced Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
In the caption of his post, James Gunn praised the actress who he sees as very talented. Although he already knew Milly from House of the Dragon, he was very happy with the results of the screen test done earlier during the audition.
In addition to appearing in Superman: Legacy, Supergirl will also appear in her solo movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is one of the five initial films for the DCU.
Just like the movie Superman: Legacy, Woman of Tomorrow is also an adaptation of the comic of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
Besides Milly Alcock, several actresses such as Meg Donnelly, Emilia Jpnes, and Cailee Spaeny were also considered to play Supergirl. However, in the end, DC Studios chose Milly Alcock to play Supergirl.
Sasha Calle’s chances are closed
However, Sasha Calle means that she no longer has a chance to star in Woman of Tomorrow, although there is still a possibility that she will appear in another role.
In late 2023, news broke that James Gunn was interested in bringing back Sasha Calle to play Supergirl and Calle herself hoped to return to the character. Perhaps, Sasha Calle’s presence in this movie will be an interesting surprise.
