Studio A24 will soon release their latest horror movie, Bring Her Back. Bring Her Back synopsis tells the story of a brother and sister who accidentally discover ritual activity in their adoptive mother’s remote house.
This movie is the work of the director duo, Danny Philippou and Michael, who previously succeeded with the movie Talk to Me. With the occult horror genre, this movie gives the audience the opportunity to feel the tension typical of A24 films.
1. Bring Her Back Synopsis
This horror movie tells the story of siblings who accidentally discover a terrible ritual in the remote home of their adoptive mother who still feels the loss of her child. The trailer released on A24’s YouTube channel on April 1, 2025 provides an intense sense of suspense by showing the mother’s character named Laura.
In the scene, Laura’s bloodied hand is seen pointing at the window, while a large white circle surrounds her house. In a desperate attempt, Laura, played by Sally Hawkins, performs a supernatural ritual to try and bring back the child who has left.
The inspiration for the movie came when Danny, one of the writers, visited his cousin in the hospital who had lost a two-year-old child.
“When we were writing Bring Her Back, my cousin lost her two-year-old son. I saw him in the hospital hugging his son with great sadness,” he was quoted as saying by Tempo.
The movie carries an occult concept that shakes the audience’s emotions with a complex story. Due to its content containing gory scenes and creepy images, the movie is rated restricted (R) according to the Motion Picture Rating (MPA).
2. Cast List and Showtimes
Actress Sally Hawkins will be the lead actress in this movie. Sally Hawkins is an actress who has received numerous nominations and awards, including two Oscar nominations for her leading role in 2018’s The Shape of Water and supporting role in 2014’s Blue Jasmine.
According to information from IMDb, Sally Hawkins has won 54 awards and received 110 nominations. Besides Sally Hawkins, Bring Her Back will also feature Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Liam Damons, Mischa Heywood, and Olga Miller.
Bring Her Back will first hit Australian theaters on May 29, 2025. A24, meanwhile, plans to release it in North America the following day. However, there is currently no information available regarding its screening in Indonesian theaters.
