After a long wait, martial arts movie fans can now get ready for the arrival of “Karate Kid Legends“, the latest movie from the legendary franchise The Karate Kid. Synopsis of Karate Kid: Legends tells the story of a talented young student and fighter named Li from Beijing who must struggle to deal with tragedy in the past.
This movie gives fresh hope to those of you who have been following the karate journey of Daniel LaRusso and his friends. Jonathan Entwistle is directing the movie this time around. Karate Kid Legends comes after the huge success of the Netflix series Cobra Kai, which was the follow-up to The Karate Kid Part III (1989).
Karate Kid: Legends will be set after the end of Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai itself will reportedly end in the sixth season in November 2024.
1. Karate Kid: Legends Movie Synopsis
The movie Karate Kid: Legends tells the story of Li, a talented student and fighter from Beijing, China. His life changes drastically when his mother decides to move to Brooklyn, United States, to find a job.
Li struggles to deal with the tragedy that happened to her in the past, until she finally reunites with her mother who is now a doctor in the United States. On the other hand, Mr. Han meets Daniel LaRusso. These two kung fu martial arts masters and characters will unite to guard and preserve a common history.
One of the reasons why many people can’t wait for Karate Kid: Legends is the return of Ralph Macchio. Ralph Macchio will play Daniel LaRusso in the three The Karate Kid movies. Here is the full list of the cast:

2. Airing Schedule
Jackie Chan’s return as Mr. Han means that The Karate Kid (2010), once considered a remake, is now officially part of The Karate Kid universe. However, as of now, it is not certain whether Jaden Smith will return to play Dre Parker.
The film was originally planned to be released on June 7, 2024, but had to experience delays until December 13, 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA demo. Finally, the release date was pushed back to May 30, 2025 so as not to clash with the airing of the final season of Cobra Kai.
At the New York Comic Con 2025 event that took place on Friday, fans were shown the first poster of Karate Kid Legends.
